A HUB FOR THE ARTS IN BIG SKY

The Big Sky Center for the Arts is designed to be a dynamic, multi-use facility that adapts to the needs of a growing community. From classrooms and studios to performance and event spaces, every element is built to inspire creativity and connection.

The remodel will transform the existing 7,700-square-foot building into a four-story, 10,000-square-foot arts center. Highlights include:

  • A second floor and rooftop patio, adding more versatile event spaces.

  • A basement “sound garden,” an eclectic practice and recording studio for musicians.

  • Classrooms, a teaching kitchen, workshop areas, and a new home for Big Sky’s low-power FM radio station, KLPK 98.3 FM, broadcasting to the local community.

  • Interior designs inspired by Big Sky’s natural beauty, with shades of green, blue, and wildflower-inspired accents.

MAIN GALLERY/FLEX SPACE

The arts are meant to be enjoyed together.  And sometimes we simply need a space to gather.  Beneath the radio station we will host a gathering space for people to practice the lost art of listening...to live music, a broadcast, an album, or a conversations. This space will also serve as a stage for indoor or outdoor events.  A large interior opening faces the flex gallery, and sliding exterior doors open to face the front of the building, Lone Peak Drive , and Firepit Park.

CREAMICS STUDIO

After trying to share a ceramics studio with other art mediums for the past several years, we have learned that clay and stained glass ( and many other materials) don't mix well! A dedicated ceramics studio will provide ample room for storage throughout all phases of clay projects, from throwing to building, firing to glazing, and trimming to recycling.

YOUTH CLASSROOM

Young artists need both creative and physical freedom - and also need to be safe and nurtured.  Our Youth Classroom will be a creative haven for exploring the arts while building relationships.  The Youth Classroom will have a dedicated entrance and an outdoor play area where our participants of all ages can spread their artistic wings.
